This is the first leg of a two-day ride through some of the most interesting scenery and twisty challenging roads in the Haliburton Highlands of Ontario.
We start at Burleigh Falls where there is good overnight accommodation. This will ensure you start your ride rested and refreshed.
The challenges of road construction in this area are clearly evident. Sometimes you can't go around rock, so you have to go through it. An abundance of dynamite was needed to clear a path through the rocky outcrops of this landscape.
There are lots of opportunities to get off the bike at scenic lookouts and historic towns.
Algonquin Provincial Park is prominent on this route. The area's role in providing masts for the British Royal Navy is documented in the Park's Logging Museum.
Dinner at the Wilno Tavern is a perfect end to the first day of riding followed by a night in the peaceful serenity of Hush Lodge.
