Fort Pierce south along the "Gold Coast" to Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach. Then west and north along the interior to Lake Okeechobee and back to Fort Pierce.
Fort Pierce to Miami Beach is nicknamed "Florida's Gold Coast". Although there are gold doubloons scattered in the sands south of Fort Pierce, the moniker refers to more modern wealth as evidenced by the opulent homes gracing the shores of such towns as Palm Beach, Highland Beach, and Hillsboro Beach.
In contrast to the crowded coast, the ride west to Lake Okeechobee passes through sparsely populated fields of sugar cane and cattle pastures.
