This beautiful, fascinating route starts in the old fortified city of Frederikstad and takes you through the Ostfold region. A region with different characters: forests, lakes, winding roads and beaches and flat areas along the sea. From Frederikstad you go through the birthplace of Roald Amundsen to the dam at Sarpsborg, a viewing tower on the mountain at Vareig. At Ise we drive around the lake on a piece of unpaved road. You can skip this if you want. Then we drive to Sweden over the huge bridge at Svinesund and straight back into Norway over the old bridge. Continue to Halden, where you can view the Fredriksten fortress. The route then takes you to the high lock at Brekke on a piece of unpaved road. We continue via Strømsfoss (watermill and lock) to Rakkestad with a resistance museum and then via a number of beautiful roads inland to the old town of Moss. The route ends again in the old center of Frederikstad.
